Subject HISTORY Compulsory to pass in 2013???

Nowadays, people are requiring learning about the subject of history during their schooling time or even anytime. People always think that history is very boring when come to a subject for them to study, but actually history is something that very interesting which can change an opinion of themselves. Why I said that history interesting is because it’s something that had happen before today which is yesterday or ages ago. When you get to know the starting of the story, the curiosity of you will make you go toward the thing that happens before this which is HISTORY.
Student, working people or others are needed to know about history because history is something to help you build your future. You can learn a lot different thing that what happens before to make today a better day or a better solution for any outcome.  Student from primary school are start learning about history and even examination on this subject is because they are need to know what is this world before they are born in this current world, history is something that will never be forgetter. Good or bad of the past incident will give you a better tomorrow which you will learn from what you had done yesterday.
A lot of student from primary school or even high school will always think that this subject is not necessary because they have not found the hidden gold in history. Teacher or lecture will try their best to show to their student that what it is about so that it will encourage more people to get involved in the field of history. This subject had become a compulsory subject to the world where got people living, so that they are able to be improving through knowing more information from history thing. In school level, teacher or headmaster of the school will try to teach people to learn and to motivate their sense of history.
After all, I think that this subject is really compulsory because it’s a powerful subject that can motivate people in their live or even in their job. This is something like learn from the past and present in the coming day to make thing nicer and successful. Children should start to know more about history so that they are able to counter any thing that will happen in their coming live, to make this subject compulsory is very good motivation to the world so that it could encourage people to live better or to achieve their wants. Those above is what I think of that why history is needed as a compulsory subject to people. How you guy think of this too?

What do you think about “History are listed as subject that compulsory to pass in 2013"

By Yen, 21 November 2010
Recently, there are a lot of sounds which about the topic of “History are listed as subject that compulsory to pass in 2013”
In late October 2010, Education Minister of Malaysia, Tan Sri Muhyiddin had announced that history subject has made a compulsory subject which mean it has to pass or credit in exam. For instances, for students to pass SPM as whole, they must pass this subject, actually are equivalent to that Bahasa Melayu which is a compulsory subject.
“The (education) ministry will improve the history syllabus content by focusing on aspects related to the country’s constitution, to improve understanding on the formation of Malaysia,” said by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister.
This topic is quite similar with the topic “UPSR and PMR might be abolished”. Is that sounds funny? Since that time, they were talking Malaysia are too examination oriented, but now, they saying History have to compulsory to pass. Of course, these comments are only come out from students.
As a Malaysian, we have to comprehend to our country. During studying history, we can learn from the hero or heroine, how they struggle and sacrifice in the war to protect Tanah Melayu. There are not only learning the spirit, but also the moral value.
From the comment of those students who uninterested in history, is because the way of their teacher while teaching the subject, is bored!
According Dr Sivachandralingam Sundara Raja, professor with the History Department University of Malaya, he comments that the common grouses are that the subject is boring, syllabus is too wide, politically aligned, favors a particular race, the focus is on one main religious civilization, memorizing of dates and personalities, hero worshipping certain events in history and moral lessons for every historical event. History then is memorized for the sake of passing exams.
Besides that, professor also states that history is not everything about the greatness of the past but also the dark side of nation. It can no longer be limited to the story of great wars or narrative of political events. It must give due attention not only to few outstanding men whose names are known in Malaysian history but also to the anonymous masses.
In my own opinion, students must be taught that the history of a nation has its glorious and dark days. They must be taught that from the pages of history one can see that not all decisions in it are correct and they change according to times. Furthermore, efforts should also be made to change the method in which history is taught in school. Students should be tested on their historical skills rather than ability to memorize facts.

SPM History to be compulsory pass subject from 2013 (Newspaper)

By: Chan Pei Wen (Mon, 22 Nov 2010)
KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that history will become a must-past subject for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) beginning 2013.
Muhyiddin who is also the Education Minister said that this was in response to complaints raised by UMNO delegates on the state of the younger generation’s knowledge on the subject.
“Beginning 2013, this will give the subject a similar status as Bahasa Malaysia will be a must-pass subject to obtain the SPM certificate,” the UMNO deputy president said in his winding-up speech at the 61st UMNO General Assembly.
The call to place more importance on the subject was raised by several delegates including delegates from Perak and Kedah. They argued that the younger generation was oblivious to the history of the nation especially the Federal Constitution. The delegates also felt that primary school pupils should be exposed to history in a more comprehensive manner. Muhyiddin, said presently elements of history are included in the “Kajian Tempatan” subject which is a combination of history and geography.

“The (education) ministry will improve the history syllabus content by focusing on aspects related to the country's constitution, to improve understanding on the formation of Malaysia," he said in his closing speech at the 61st UMNO General Assembly.
Currently it is only compulsory for students to pass the Bahasa Malaysia paper in order to get an SPM certificate.
Muhyiddin, also announced that the replacement of PMR (Penilaian Menengah Rendah) exams with a school-based assessment system will be brought forward to 2014, instead of 2016 as earlier announced.
It is a school-based assessment was more suitable for students in Malaysia’s 7,000 secondary schools. Such an assessment, which has been carried out in 550 schools nationwide since 2008, was preferred choice of many. These are among the recommendations in a report on the proposal to abolish both examinations. The move is part of the government’s efforts to restructure the education system, which is perceived to be too exam-oriented.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr. Mohd Puad Zarkashi described the changes to the subject as timely as remarks on racial sensitivities were being made without understanding our real history.

“Yayasan Guru Malaysia Berhad(YGMB) will be empowered to intensify a campaign to encourage teachers to be members of the foundation,” said  by Muhyiddin.
Muhyiddin aware that YGMB needs more funds, they will allocate RM10 million to finance activities for the welfare of teachers. He also announced that Yayasan Guru Tun Hussein Onn, a foundation established for the welfare of teachers has been approved by Cabinet.
"A bill will be tabled in Parliament soon, and about RM200 million will be transferred from the Teachers Provident Fund (KWSG), to the foundation for a start," said Muhyiddin.
